Regina Zinger

Did you always want to be a hairstylist?

Yes, my entire life! I first went to cosmetology school in Brazil. And after I moved to the USA, I was so passionate about hair styling that I could not see me in a different industry. So, I had to go back to school to become a licensed cosmetologist in Massachusetts.

What prompted you to get into hair?

Beauty is very much part of the culture in Brazil. When I was a little girl I used to play with my mom's hair .. hairdos, color and styling. And as all Brazilian women I have to get my hair and nails done every week. It is part of my lifestyle.

What was your first hairstylist job?

I started in Newton Center at Robert and Edward Private World Hair Salon.

Can you tell us about a memorable moment you had while doing hair?

My big hair transformation... The girl was going from blonde to totally blue hair... And from long hair to short haircut... Going through that is like standing on the edge of the airplane ready to jump. There is no way back. In the end, it was an happy ending: She loved it!!

What is the best part of your job?

When you see your customers excited and smiling with the results: It is very fulfilling to make people feel better about themselves.

Which hairstyles do you tend to do the most often?

Long layered haircuts and bobs.

What are the biggest hair care do's and dont's?

After you color your hair professionally, please invest in good hair products: masks and shampoos are a must have. They will help you get long lasting results and protect your hair.

Don't use color bought in the store, period. The products are usually too harsh and will damage your hair to a point where it is sometimes impossible to fix. Hair color has strong chemicals and we highly recommend our Organic Colour System line: It is the best to minimize any negative effects on your hair.

When you are not making others beautiful, what is your favorite occupation?

I love to make jewelry and hats for myself.
